Vera Kierstead-Farber '36 Authors America Is My Country

America iIs My Country Farber.jpgJuly 31, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Vera May (Knauer) Kierstead-Farber, a 1936 graduate of DePauw University, has authored America Is My Country. The book is the third and final installment in the "Jamie" series, which includes the previous releases Jamie Comes of Age and Jamie's Journey: An Early American Adventure.

The author, who received a a bachelor's degree in music education from DePauw and a master's degree from Villanova University, will hold a book signing event this Thursday, August 2, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Asbury Towers in Greencastle.

In America Is My Country, set in 1811, Kierstead-Farber tells the tale of Jamie Bacon's westward journey from Washington, D.C., accompanied by his longtime friend Alex and a boy named Will. "The author meticulously recreates this crucial period in American history through the eyes of her intrepid, ambitious, and high-spirited adventurer," notes the publisher, Vantage Press.
