Little Giants Tame Tigers 26-0 and Celebrate Bell Homecoming
November 16, 1946
November 16, 1946, Crawfordsville, Ind. - Wabash College gave its supporters two reasons to celebrate today as the school's homecoming victory reverts possession of the Monon Bell to the Little Giants. The home team rolled over DePauw University, 26-0, on a cold and wet playing surface.
Wabash was led by Norm Wilson and Jim Allerdice, who each scored two touchdowns in the effort. One of Allerdice's tallies came on a 95-yard interception return.
Both colleges came into the battle for the Bell with new head coaches. Bob Nipper, who took over for Raymond "Gaumey" Neal (now DePauw's athletic director), suffered a loss in his Monon Bell debut, while Wabash's Glen Harmeson can boast of a 1-0 record in the series.
