Phil Sharp.jpgOctober 12, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Phil Sharp, president of the Washington, D.C.-based Resources for the Future and a member of DePauw University's Class of 1964, will participate in a Monday discussion at the Brookings Institution. Sharp and other panelists will explore the themes presented by David Sandalow in his new book, Freedom from Oil: How the Next President Can End the United States' Oil Addiction. Sandalow, a senior fellow at Brookings, will also participate in the event.

Published last month, Sandalow's book "explores what could happen if the next president made ending oil dependence a top priority," notes an announcement. "Dueling memos from Cabinet members and top aides examine plug-in cars, biofuels, fuel efficiency, mass transit and other topics. Freedom from Oil offers insights into both energy policy and White House decision-making, culminating with a speech by the new president to the nation."
