Washington Takes Third Place in Tipoff Tourney with Win over Olivet

November 17, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Olivet held an early 8-6 lead, but Washington put together a 22-5 run on the way to a 34-19 halftime lead and a 68-38 win over the Comets in the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tipoff Tournament third-place game.
Washington, ranked first in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Preseason Poll and sixth by D3hoops.com, improved to 1-1, while Olivet dropped to 0-2.
Shanna-Lei Dacanay was the lone double-figure scorer for the victorious Bears as she scored 11. In all, 15 players reached the scorebook for Washington. Ameina Ross paced Olivet with 10 points.
The Bears shot 44.6 percent from the field and held Olivet to just 25 percent from the floor. Washingotn also held a 39-30 edge on the boards as Jaime McFarlin posted her second straight double-digit total on the boards with 11. Gabrielle Federau led the Comets with eight rebounds.
