Barbara Kingsolver 2005.jpgDecember 13, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Writing in the Colorado Springs Gazette, Cheryl Truman lists "five books I want for Christmas," and her rundown includes Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life by 1977 DePauw University graduate Barbara Kingsolver. Truman states, "Kingsolver will pry my bananas out of my cold dead hands, but she has me thinking more about how far my food has traveled to get into my filthy oven and my refrigerator, where the corpses of bad meals go to rot. A plea to eat more locally and save the planet."

For the record, her list also includes: The World Without Us, by Alan Weisman; Leni, by Steven Bach; An Arsonist's Guide to Barbara Kingsolver Food Life.jpgWriters' Homes in New England, by Brock Clarke; and Boone: A Biography, by Robert Morgan.
