Michael Montagano '03 Launches Congressional Bid Promising "Fresh Leadership"

January 28, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - "This is about fresh leadership and a new direction for the country," said Michael A. Montagano today as he officially launched his campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives. Montagano, 26, is an attorney and 2003 graduate of DePauw University who has never before sought public office. "We need a break away from the old Washington system, and a break away from politics that bring us down as a region. We need a fresh start," he said at an event at Fort Wayne's Embassy Theatre.

"Montagano is a graduate of DePauw University and the IU School of Law," notes a report by CBS affiliate WANE-TV. "He has served under former Indiana governor Joe Kernan, and congressman Tim Roemer, but has never held public office." A Democrat, Montagano is seeking Indiana's Third District seat, which is currently held by Republican Mark Souder.
