Pruzin Named SCAC Co-Player of the Week

DSC_0662.jpgFebruary 6, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Following a weekend which included a career-high 27 points, DePauw junior guard Cassie Pruzin was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball co-player of the week for games played January 28 through February 3. She shared the honor with Rhodes' Ashley Farrell.

All of Pruzin's 27 in the 68-51 win at Trinity came in the second half which set a DePauw single-half record. In that game she also dished out six assists. She scored 12 straight DePauw and game points in second half and had 17 of the Tigers' 27 of a 27-4 run over the opening 11 minutes of the second half. She hit 8-of-11 field goals and 4-of-5 three-pointers.

In Friday's 55-45 victory at Southwestern, Pruzin had 17 points and tied for game-high honors with eight rebounds.

For the weekend, Pruzin averaged 22.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game. She hit on 52.2 percent of her shot from the field (12-23), including 54.5 percent (6-11) from long range. She also sank 14 of 16 (87.5%) of her free-throw attempts.

Pruzin is averaging 13.6 points on the season (tied for 12th in the SCAC) and a team-high 6.4 rebounds per game (14th in the SCAC). She is fifth in the SCAC in both assists per game (3.95) and steals per game (2.50). Pruzin is also sixth in both free-throw percentage (83.8%) and three-point field goal percentage (38.0%).

The Tigers host Rhodes on Friday at 6 p.m. and Birmingham-Southern on Sunday at 1 p.m.
