Tigers Move to Eighth in Both National Polls

_DSC0117.jpgFebruary 12, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Following weekend Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference wins over Rhodes and Birmingham-Southern, which extended their win streak to eight games, the 19-3 Tigers moved up to eighth in both national polls.

DePauw totaled 401 points and moved up four spots in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll which is topped by Hope College with 615 points and 15 first-place votes. Since the D3hoops.com rankings began in 1999, DePauw has received votes in 135 of the 136 polls, earned a top 25 ranking 107 times and a spot in the top 10 for 40 weeks.

The Tigers jumped five spots in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll and are eighth with 164 points. Hope also tops that poll with 250 points and all 10 first-place votes.

With its next win, DePauw will record its seventh straight 20-win season and 12th in the last 13 years. Since the start of the 1995-96 season the Tigers have posted a 301-59 record for an .836 winning percentage which ranks fourth in Division III.

Two of the Tigers' three losses have been to fifth-ranked Thomas More and seventh-ranked Messiah and one of the wins was over Illinois Wesleyan (9th in coaches' poll/10th by D3hoops.com)

DePauw takes its 11-0 SCAC mark into Saturday's 1 p.m. contest with Centre at the Neal Fieldhouse. The Tigers topped the Colonels by an 80-55 score on December 1.
