DePauw Picked to Win SCAC Softball Title

gill_rachel_042807.jpgFebruary 21, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Following a 37-7 season and a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Championship, the Tigers are picked to win their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title in a preseason poll of the SCAC's head coaches.

DePauw was a unanimous pick to win the SCAC's Eastern Division, while Centre and Millsaps were picked second and Sewanee fourth. In voting for the overall SCAC title, the Tigers picked up seven of the eight first-place votes. Trinity, the 2007 champion, collected the other first-place vote.

DePauw was earlier selected eighth in the nation according to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Poll.

The Tigers open the 2008 season on Saturday, February 23, when they travel to Emory for a noon doubleheader.
