March 8, 2008
March 8, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Actors From the London Stage, an international touring company, will perform Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew at DePauw University next Tuesday, March 11. The 7:30 p.m. performance in the Green Center for the Performing Arts' Moore Theatre is presented by DePauw's Performing Arts Series and part of a weeklong residency by the troupe.
The five British actors perform a stripped-down, no-nonsense, text-based version of one of the bard's most well-known comedies, with Louise Yates in the role of the fiery Kate and fellow troupe members Martin Parr, Nicola Alexis, Andy Greenhalgh and Victor Gardener all playing multiple roles. Presented with the assistance of the Gilbert S. Lance Fund, The Taming of the Shrew is free and open to the public.
Over the coming week, the Actors From the London Stage will visit 18 DePauw classes. Among those appearances, Yates will perform a one-woman show Kate in '08 for two women's studies classes.
On Wednesday, March 12 at 4:15 pm in Watson Forum of the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media, members of the company will participate in a public discussion which will also include members of the Living Theatre.
