Poet & Prof. Metta Sama to Present Wednesday Night Reading

April 12, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Poet Metta Sama, assistant professor of English at DePauw University, will present a reading this Wednesday, April 16. Supported by the James and Marilou Kelly Writers Series, the program begins at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Richard E. Peeler Art Center and is free and open to all.
Sama, formerly known as Lydia Melvin, authored South of Here, which was published by Western Michigan University's New Issues Press in 2005. Her poems and book reviews have appeared in Paterson Literary Review, Prairie Schooner and Verse, among other publications. She is a former Jay C. and Ruth Halls Poetry Fellow from the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Institute of Creative Writing.
To celebrate National Poetry Month, Sama will read from her collection and invite a dozen or so students and faculty members to read a favorite poem by a poet they admire.
