Five Tigers Earn All-Central Region Honors

May 7, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - The top-ranked Tigers placed five players on the 2008 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Central Region Team.
Pitcher Megan Soultz (pictured) and catcher Rachel Gill were first team selections, while first baseman Ashlee Anton, left fielder Kaitlyn Davitt and third baseman Kelly Schwerzler earned third team honors.
Soultz, a third team all-America choice last year has posted a 33-2 record and a 0.79 ERA headed into the NCAA Division III Championships. DePauw's all-time victories leader, Soultz leads the country in wins and is seventh in ERA.
Gill earned first team honors in 2007 and was a second team choice in 2006 as a designated player. The Tigers' all-time leading hitter us batting .450 this season, scored 36 runs and driven in 37.
Anton established a DePauw single-season record with six home runs this season, while batting .370 with a team-best 42 RBI. She also has recorded a .990 fielding percentage with just two errors in 39 contests.
Davitt is hitting .339 with 32 runs and 22 RBI and hasn't committed an error this season in left field.
Schwerzler hit .340 during the regular season with 31 runs scored along with eight stolen bases in as many attempts. She also posted a .970 fielding percentage at third base with just four errors in 133 chances.
The Tigers open NCAA Division III Championship play on Thursday, May 8, when theyface Maryville (Mo.) in the first round at 10 a.m. in Rock Island, Ill.Back
