Megan Soultz Named First Team All-American in Softball

soultz.jpgMay 16, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw University sophomore Megan Soultz, a record-setting pitcher on the Tiger softball team, has been named a first team 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-American. Her batterymate, catcher Rachel Gill, is a second team selection. The winners were announced last night at the national championship banquet in Salem, Virginia. DePauw is one of 37 different schools to place athletes on one of the three squads.

Soultz was honored for "leading the Tigers to their first No. 1 ranking in school history in midseason and a 40-4 finish," notes an announcement. "She was No. 1 in the nation with 36 sb040108.jpgvictories, losing just four decisions. Soultz finished with a 0.98 ERA, striking out 260 batters in 265.1 innings of work. As a sophomore, she has already broken the school career strikeout and victory records."

Earlier, Soultz was named to the Louisville Slugger / National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Central Region Team.
