U of Tampa Athletic Director Larry Marfise '74 is Honored

Marfise, athletic director at the University of Tampa and 1974 graduate of DePauw University, has been honored by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) with the Southeast Region AstroTurf AD of the Year Award (ADOY). Marfise is one of a total of 29 honorees who were recognized this month at NACDA's 43rd Annual Convention in Dallas.

"The program brings to light the exceptional jobs done by athletics directors across the country," says NACDA executive director Mike Cleary. "These 29 winners exemplify that, providing us with a 2005 Monon Fans.jpggroup of outstanding athletics directors who excel at their jobs."

Marfise, who holds both a bachelor's and master's degree from DePauw, has served nine years as UT's athletic director. He was previously athletics director at Ferris State University (Michigan) (1994-99), associate athletics director at St. Mary's (California) (1985-94), assistant athletics director at Southern Baton Rouge (1985), assistant coach/promotions and tickets administrator at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas (1984), administrator at Ohio (1983-84) and wrestling coach/intramural director at Evansville (1979-83).
