The performance will take place from 9 to 11 p.m. in Walden Inn's Fluttering Duck. The concerts, which take place each Thursday during the semester, are free open to the public.

Joining Salman, who is a professor in the DePauw School of Music, on this opening evening is a talented cast that includes pianist Judd Danby, Paul Musser (another DePauw music faculty member) on bass, and drummer John DiCenso.

"We hope the show serves as a welcome to DePauw students and Greencastle's jazz listeners," says Musser, who is also founder and coordinator of the jazz series.

Now beginning its eighth semester, DePauw Jazz at the Duck features professional jazz musicians from across the midwest as well as DePauw's own talented jazz students. Continuing through December 11, the series presents jazz and blues performances every Thursday night from 9 to 11 p.m. All events are presented free of charge.

Upcoming programs include the funky grooves of The Fifth Estate (September 4) and local guitar favorite Sandy Williams and his quartet (September 11).
