Tiger Golfers Ranked Fifth in Preseason Poll

wgolfscac2007.jpgAugust 27, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Coming off a second consecutive NCAA Division III Championships runner-up performance, the Tigers head into the 2008-09 season ranked fifth in the Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association Division III Coaches' Poll.

Defending champion Methodist picked up 12 of the 13 first-place votes and totaled 323 points in the poll. Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Southwestern totaled 296 points and is ranked second, while Gustavus Adolphus claimed the other first-place vote and is third with 294 points. Illinois Wesleyan is fourth with 277 points, while DePauw follows with 270 points.

The Tigers return five letterwinners from last year's team which achieved the program's seventh straight NCAA top-four finish. DePauw opens the season on Saturday and Sunday at the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational.
