Gold Fireworks.jpgOctober 9, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - "Greencastle's night sky will be illuminated by fireworks Friday night beginning at 9 p.m.," notes the front page of today's Banner-Graphic. "DePauw University is presenting a fireworks show as part of the celebration commemorating the inauguration of its 19th president, Brian W. Casey. The skyrockets, and some ground displays, will be launched from Bowman Park north of the Green Center for the Performing Arts," adds the item.

"Much of the display will be visible from off campus if people set their sights toward the DePauw campus," says Jennifer Clarkson Soster '88, executive director of alumni relations at DePauw. "This is a community celebration, and we do hope that people who live in the area can enjoy what will be a new chapter in the University's 172-year history."

The fireworks are being presented by the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the Black and Gold Student Alumni Association. The DePauw Seal.jpghope is that the display will bring the larger community together as students, faculty, staff and community members enjoy the show in the sky from their own front porch or yard.

Parking will be restricted around the perimeter of Bowman Park, and the park itself will be closed for safety reasons.
