ESPN Founder Bill Rasmussen '54 Appears in Connecticut Tonight

Bill Rasmussen Color.jpgOctober 9, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Bill Rasmussen, founder of ESPN and 1954 graduate of DePauw University, will appear today in Enfield, Connecticut, "where he will lead a discussion on the origin of the sports network," reports Manchester's Journal Inquirer. "Rasmussen, a former resident, is in town for a fundraiser being held by the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame."

The 7 p.m. event will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. "Rasmussen will also have available for sale and to autograph his best-selling book titled, Sports Junkies Rejoice, The Birth of ESPN. Proceeds from the event benefit the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame's three scholarship programs for Enfield and Fermi High Schools."

Rasmussen Rasmussen launched ESPN in 1979, sold it five years later, and has recently started a new entrepreneurial venture, College Fanz Sports Network.
