Grammy-Nominated Sones de México In Concert on October 30

sones_de_mexico.jpgOctober 24, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - On Thursday, October 30, the DePauw University School of Music will welcome Chicago-based musical group Sones de México to campus as a part of ArtsFest 2008: Art & Borders. The ensemble will present a 7:30 p.m. concert in the Green Center's Kresge Auditorium on Thursday evening. The public is invited to attend the music event, which is presented free of admission charge.

Sones de Me?xico, which has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, is a composed of seasoned Mexican folk musicians and educators. The group formed in 1994 to keep the tradition of Mexican song alive in its many regional forms, true to its roots and old masters, and current and fresh at the same time. The musicians in the ensemble "move seamlessly between styles and instruments playing with rock'n'roll energy without ArtsFest_a&borders.jpgsacrificing cultural authenticity," wrote the Chicago Tribune.
