The Bulldogs, ranked #24 in NCAA Division I, are 25-4 overall and 15-3 against Horizon League foes and have now won three straight regular-season titles.

Preseason polls picked Butler to finish fifth in their conference.

The award was voted on by the league's head coaches, sports information directors and selected media members.

Stevens, in his second year leading the team, said after yesterday's 58-56 triumphBrad Stevens 4.jpg over Cleveland State, "It's their intestinal fortitude, it's their toughness and their ability to be resilient -- and all those things that probably don't get talked about enough -- that allowed them to win today."

Stevens is also one of 10 finalists for U.S. Basketball Writers Association Coach of the Year award.

The Bulldogs will host the conference tournament semifinals next Saturday at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Read more at the Web site of the Indianapolis Star, or in this recent story.
