Sophomore is SCAC Baseball Offensive Player of the Week

gardner_ben_2008DPUBaseball.jpgMarch 6, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw University sophomore Ben Gardner has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Offensive Player of the Week. The second baseman "hit .538 on the week (7-for-13), scored six runs, drove in four, hit three doubles, posted a .769 slugging percentage, and tallied a .625 on base percentage during the week," notes the SCAC's announcement. Gardner also "was a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen bases."

The Tigers are off to a 4-2 start this season and return to action on today when they host Illinois Wesleyan in a seven-inning/nine-inning doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. They also face Hanover in a single, nine-inning game on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. DSC_6438.JPGand tangle with Illinois Wesleyan in another single game on Sunday at noon.

Friday's second game as well as the Saturday and Sunday contests will be carried live by student radio station WGRE (91.5 FM or via this link).
