Soultz Named SCAC Pitcher of the Week

soultziwu.jpgMarch 10, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — After tossing shutouts in each of the sixth-ranked Tigers' first four games, DePauw junior pitcher Megan Soultz has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week.

The 2008 SCAC Pitcher of the Year and Honda Division III Athlete of the Year finalist, went 4-0 over the weekend in the circle, pitching 23 innings allowing just 11 hits while striking out 26 batters. Soultz did not allow a run and walked just two in posting a 0.00 ERA. On the weekend batters facing Soultz posted a batting average of just .136.

Soultz pitched a pair of two-hitters against Eureka and Maryville (Tenn.), a three-hitter against Maryville and a four-hitter against Piedmont.

The honor was the eighth of her career as she claimed the distinction five times last year and twice in 2007.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday and Sunday, March 14-15, at the Sea Gull Invitational at Salisbury University is Salisbury, Md.
