'Vocal Arts at DePauw' Camp Will Include Three Public Concerts

Green Center MB 1.jpgJune 10, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — The voice faculty of the DePauw University School of Music will greet 25 high school voice students and families to the DePauw campus this Sunday, June 14, for the 2009 edition of "Vocal Arts at DePauw." The camp provides a week of fun and educational activities for the 25 high school students who have been accepted to participate. The students will study private voice, audition techniques, improvisation, acting and character development, stage make-up and more.

The event also offers three upcoming performances which are free and open to the public.

On Tuesday, June 16, DePauw voice students and recent alumni will present a concert of vocal music in the Green Center for the Performing Arts' Thompson Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, June 17, members of the DePauw Musical_notes.jpgSchool of Music faculty will present a chamber music concert at 7:30 pm at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church as part of the Greencastle Summer Chamber Music Series.

Vocal Arts at DePauw 2009 will conclude with a recital featuring the work of the participants. The recital will include solo works by each of the high school students, as well as group performance that they spent the week studying and rehearsing. The closing concert will take place in Thompson Recital Hall at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20.
