Football Team Climbs to #20 in Latest National Poll

September 14, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — On the heels of a 55-7 opening night win over Anderson Saturday, DePauw University's football team has climbed three spots to #20 in the latest poll by D3football.com. The poll is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, sports information directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly.
The Tigers totaled 153 points in the poll, while Mount Union retained its top ranking with 623 points and 23 first-place votes.

In Saturday night's contest, DePauw rolled up a school-record 665 yards including a record 494 through the air. Senior quarterback Spud Dick threw a record-tying five touchdown passes. Receiver Alex Koors hauled in 12 passes for 209 yards and his three touchdown catches tied a school record. And the Tiger defense limited Anderson to just 246 yards including only 80 in the first half.
DePauw hosts Centre College Saturday to open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Blackstock Stadium.
