This Week's Miami of Ohio Football Tickets Honor Nick Mourouzis

November 9, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — Nick Mourouzis, professor emeritus of kinesiology at DePauw and head coach of the University's football team for 23 seasons, is being honored for his contributions to his alma mater, Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. In 2003, Mourouzis was inducted into Miami's "Cradle of Coaches." Tickets for this Thursday's game between Miami and Bowling Green feature a picture of Mourouzis from his college playing days.
Miami has earned the reputation as the "Cradle of Coaches" for producing legendary football coaches such as Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, Ara Parseghian, Weeb Ewbank, Paul Brown and Sid Gillman. At last count, more than 100 Miami graduates were active in coaching or administrative work in the professional and collegiate levels.
Nick Mourouzis guided the football Tigers to 138 victories, the most in University history, before retiring after the 2003 season. In 1996, he founded Chi Alpha Sigma, the nation's first collegiate scholar-athlete honor society.
