She is featured in the Indianapolis Star's "Meet the Teacher" column.

"I encourage parents to ask their kids about their school day every day," Dow tells the newspaper. "Students love to share what they learned from their classes and tell stories from their school day. It is important for parents to be good listeners and great cheerleaders when it comes to school."

A teacher for nine years, Dow tells the newspaper she made her career decision rather early. "I thought my fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. Palmer, was the coolest lady in town. She was young, hip, fun and filled with enthusiasm every day. I wanted to be just like her, so from that point on when people would ask what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would always confidently answer with 'teacher.' Obviously, I never looked back."
