WGRE Sportscasters Honored by Indiana Broadcasters Association

WGRE Kris Huffman John Herrick.jpgNovember 18, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw University's student radio station, WGRE, is the recipient of a 2009 Indiana Broadcasters Association Spectrum Award. The station was a first place winner for "Best Sportscast" for its coverage of the January 18, 2009 women's college basketball game between DePauw and Colorado College, which featured play-by-play by John Herrick and color commentary by Lucy First. The Spectrum Award "recognizes broadcast excellence for outstanding achievement in broadcasting by Indiana radio and television stations," according to IBA. "The competition is established to encourage the highest standards of reporting, community service and production creativity. It brings the ultimate prize of peer recognition to members of the broadcast industry of Indiana."

The awards were presented last Saturday, November 14, at the 22nd wgre.jpgSpectrum Annual Awards Show at the Marriott Hotel in Indianapolis.
