David Forsell '89 Continues Efforts to Beautify Indianapolis
December 23, 2009
December 23, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — "We have a great airport and a wonderful city that is dynamic, growing and vibrant, but getting between here and there isn't what any of us would want or expect," says David Forsell, president of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and 1989 graduate of DePauw University. Forsell is quoted in an Indianapolis Star article on plans to beautify five interchanges along Interstate 70 between downtown Indy and the airport.
As Josh Duke writes, the project is "led by a massive public-private partnership ... combining art and nature, (it) will serve as a front door to the city, greeting millions of visitors every year, including those coming to town for the 2012 Super Bowl." The text adds, "Eli Lilly and Co. donated $1 million and partnered with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and the Indiana Department of Transportation to secure a $1 million match through a federal transportation enhancement grant to get the project started."
Forsell declares, "Beauty matters. That is why we landscape our front yards. It signifies who we are, how we feel and what people think about us."
