Mike Steele Leaving for D-I East Carolina University

Mike Steele hs ac.jpgApril 1, 1987, Greencastle, Ind. — "Mike Steele, who has amassed at least 20 victories in each of his last four seasons at DePauw, was named the head basketball coach at East Carolina Tuesday," reports the Times Daily of Florence, Alabama. "Steele, 33, the head coach at DePauw for the past six seasons, replaces Charlie Harrison, who resigned at the end of this season after five years at the NCAA Division I school."

The newspaper adds, "Steele is among the top five active Division III coaches with at least five years experience at four-year schools in winning percentage, with a record of 124-40 for .759 during those six seasons."
