DePauw Women Move Up in Both National Hoops Polls

fernandez030808.jpgFebruary 23, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — After extending their win streak to 18 with weekend Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference home wins over Rhodes (64-44) and Birmingham-Southern (65-39), 22-3 DePauw has moved up to 14th in both national basketball polls.

DePauw totaled 274 points in the Top 25 rankings and moved up three spots from 17th last week. They garnered 96 points in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll and jumped two places from 16th.

Two of the Tigers' three losses this season have come to sixth-ranked Washington-St. Louis and 16th-ranked Thomas More.

Since the Top 25 poll debuted in 1999, DePauw has been ranked in the top 25 in 125 of the 168 polls and received votes 164 times.

The Tigers have notched their ninth straight 20-win season and 13th in the last 14 years and are the top seed from the SCAC Eastern Division for the conference tournament which starts on Friday. DePauw plays the tournament's first game at 1 p.m. CST against Southwestern.

Friday's four quarterfinal games will be played at Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss., while Saturday's semifinal contests and the Sunday title game will be contested at Millsaps College.
