DePauw Sweeps SCAC Softball Player of the Week Honors

April 13, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Following a 6-0 week including a four-game sweep of Birmingham-Southern, two members of the 25th-ranked Tigers earned Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week honors.
Sophomore third baseman Jen Kosinski (far left) was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week, while senior Megan Soultz (near left) was chosen as the Pitcher of the Week.
Kosinski hit .545 on the week, batting 12-for-22 with seven runs scored and 10 RBIs in six games. She posted a .773 slugging percentage and a .545 on-base percentage including two doubles and a home run. The homer tied the DePauw single-season home run record with six.
On the year, Kosinski is batting .473 with 44 hits, 34 runs scored, 43 RBIs with just seven strikeouts all season. The honor was the second of the season for Kosinski.
Soultz went a perfect 4-0 on the week in five starts with four complete games in 35 innings of work. She tossed one shutout while striking out 26 batters posting a 1.40 ERA and allowing opponents to hit just .217 against her on the week.
For the season, Soultz is 17-2 with a 1.38 ERA in 127 innings of work. She's holding opponents to a .218 batting average and has struck out 119 batters. The honor is the first for Soultz this season and the 11th of her collegiate career.
DePauw is 24-3 on the season and 11-1 in SCAC play headed into a weekend home series with Centre.
