Craig Hutchinson Jul010.jpgJuly 26, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. —  "Almost 40 years after coming close to being cut from his high school golf team in Streeter, Ill., Lafayette anesthesiologist Craig Hutchinson is the Men's City match play champion," begins an article in today's edition of Indiana's Lafayette Journal & Courier. "Hutchinson, 53, completed an eye-opening Championship Flight run on Sunday morning at Purdue's Kampen Course, upsetting No. 1 seed and reigning champion Brent Hofman 1-up in 19 holes." The piece by Jeff  Washburn notes, "Hutchinson played in the Illinois high school state finals three times, then played college golf at DePauw in Greencastle ... After graduating from DePauw in 1978, Hutchinson eased away from competitive golf for more than 20 years ... He attended Chicago's Rush Medical School, then did his residency and fellowship at Chicago's Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center. Hutchinson married and practiced anesthesiology in Albuquerque and Sacramento before coming to Lafayette in 2002, when he began to play golf again, first at Battle Ground, then at Purdue."Golf Ball on Tee.jpg

"The last couple of years, my son got raised, my work situation got better and I was able to spend some time and practice," Hutchinson says. "That's what it is. It's coming out here and practicing."
