Tigers Open SCAC Play with Win at Sewanee

September 18, 2010, Sewanee, Tenn. —  DePauw remained unbeaten overall and opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 3-2 win at Sewanee. The Tigers improved to 6-0 with the win, while Sewanee dropped to 1-4.

Sewanee's Elise Landau opened the scoring just four minutes into the contest with an unassisted goal before DePauw's Margaret Ellis tied the game with 28:15 left in the first half on Hannah Weigel's assist.

Carly Grimm put the hosts ahead 2-1 on Molly Kennedy's assist with 24:22 remaining in the half. Katie Broecker's penalty stroke goal with only 17 seconds remaining in the first half tied the game at 2-2 and Bridgette Shamleffer's penalty stroke with 13:28 left in regulation gave DePauw the win.

DePauw outshot Sewanee 10-9 and held a 10-9 edge in corners. Liz Attewell totaled seven saves for DePauw, while Anna Morrow had seven saves.

The Tigers face Limestone tomorrow in an 8:30 a.m. contest at Bellarmine.
