Drew Powell '98 in Broadway Cast of The Pee-wee Herman Show

88199October 26, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Drew Powell, a 1998 graduate of DePauw University, is in the Broadway cast of The Pee-wee Herman Show, which "begins previews at the newly rechristened Stephen Sondheim Theatre Oct. 26 prior to an official opening Nov. 11," reports Playbill. "The production recently announced a four-week extension to Jan. 2, 2011."

The article adds, "The stage show is based on Reubens' 1981 cult classic stage production, The Pee-wee Herman Show, with new elements from the ground-breaking CBS show Pee-wee's Playhouse. It's written by Paul Reubens and Bill Steinkellner, with additional material by John Paragon, and direction by Alex Timbers."

Earlier this year, Powell appeared in the cast of the same show when it played at Los 47433Angeles' Club Nokia, portraying Bear and providing the voices of Randy, Mr. Window and the Flower.

An English (literature) major and Media Fellow at DePauw, Drew Powell will also be seen in an upcoming remake of the film Straw Dogs, and Touchback, starring Kurt Russell and set for release next year (Jordan Havercamp '10 was another member of the latter film's cast).

Powell has appeared on the USA Network's In Plain Sight, the TNT series Leverage, and the USA Network's Psych. He's also seen in the motion pictures 1408 (which starred John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson) and The Marine. Powell's other roles have include a featured part in the PAX show The Ponderosa, and he was a recurring character in the FOX series Malcolm in the Middle. Powell also made appearances on CBS' Cold Case (seen above right), NBC's The Office and ER, and FOX's House.
