Life Sciences Patent Attorney Lauren Stevens '82 Joins Foley & Lardner

November 23, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Lauren L. Stevens, a 1982 graduate of DePauw University, has joined Foley & Lardner LLP. A life sciences expert, Stevens will  hired Lauren L. Stevens for its Silicon Valley IP practice, the Milwaukee-based firm said in a statement. A life sciences patent attorney, Dr. Stevens will work with the firm's intellectual property department in the chemical, biotechnology & pharmaceutical practice and be based in the Silicon Valley offices.

Stevens comes to her new position from Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner LLP, a Washington intellectual property specialty firm. "She has also previously served as vice president of legal and financial affairs at what was GlaxoSmithKline PLC’s Affymax Research Institute and as a senior executive at Cytokinetics Inc. of San Francisco," notes Bloomberg. "She does patent counseling and litigation in the areas of pharmaceuticals, combinatorial chemistry and solid phase synthesis, assay technologies and targets, bioinformatics and instrumentation."

A chemistry major as an undergraduate at DePauw, Stevens went on to earn a doctorate in organic chemistry from Yale University and a law degree from Stanford University.
