December 9, 2010

89354December 9, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. —  DePauw senior wide receiver Alex Koors and junior guard Lewis Brown have earned D3football.com All-South Region honors. The complete teams are available here.

Koors (left) was named to the region's second team after becoming the first receiver in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference history to earn Offensive Player of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons.

He finished the season with 86 catches for 1,255 yards and 16 touchdowns. Koors was just two catches shy of the school's single-season mark of 88 catches held by John Stephens (2001) and only 11 receiving yards short of his own record of 1,266 set last year. The 16 touchdown receptions broke the DePauw record previously held by Dan Ryan (2002).

Koors also established DePauw and SCAC career records for receptions (255), receiving yards (3,850) and receiving touchdowns (42). He was a first team selection each of the last two years and honorable mention as a freshman. He caught at least one touchdown pass in 10 of the 11 games this year and hauled in at least one reception in a school-record 40 straight games.

Brown was voted to the third team after anchoring the Tigers' offensive line. Part of an offensive line which allowed just 10 sacks this year, Brown was only responsible for one sack this season. He also helped the offense match the single-season school record with 4,299 total yards and 255 first downs. Brown was also a first team all-SCAC choice in 2009 and this year.

Players were nominated for these awards by the sports information directors at the various schools. There were a record 815 players nominated nationwide. All-region teams were selected in balloting by sports information directors in each region and D3football.com staff.

DePauw finished the season with a 9-2 record after opening with a school-record nine straight wins to start the season. The Tigers captured their fourth SCAC title including their second straight and the program's only outright title.
