Matt Walker '99 Named Head Football Coach at UW-River Falls

89671December 29, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Matt Walker, a 1999 graduate of DePauw who was head coach of the University's football team from 2006 through the 2008 season, was today named head football coach at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  Walker will officially assume the post on January 3. 

"Matt brings a wealth of successful football experiences to the position," says UWRF athletic director Roger Ternes. "He has the necessary intangibles to be successful at UW-River Falls."

Walker compiled a 22-8 record as DePauw's head coach. From 2000-05 he was an assistant coach with the Tigers and coached running backs and wide receivers. He spent the past season at Butler University, where he coached tight ends. Walker was also the head baseball coach at DePauw from 2001-09 and led the Tigers to five conference divisional championships and to a regional berth in the NCAA tournament in 2001.
