Prof. John Kaemmer to Present at Society of Ethnomusicology Conference

90529October 5, 1986, Greencastle, Ind. — John E. Kaemmer, professor of anthropology at DePauw and chair of the University's sociology and anthropology department, will be among the presenters at the annual meeting of the Society of Ethnomusicology.  Dr. Kaemmer will present his paper, "Social Power and Music Change Among the Shona" at the gathering, which takes place October 16-19 in Rochester, New York.

A member of the DePauw faculty since 1975, Kaemmer earned a bachelor's degree in music from Willamette Univerity, attended the Boston University School of Theology, earned an M.A. from Scarritt College, an M.Div. from Garrett Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from Indiana University - Bloomington.

He was named department chair in June 1980.
