#4 DePauw Sweeps #21 Illinois Wesleyan

April 12, 2011, Bloomington, Ill. — The fourth-ranked Tigers improved to 19-7-1 following a doubleheader sweep at 21st-ranked Illinois Wesleyan. DePauw won the first game, 7-6, and took the nightcap, 4-3. The Titans dropped to 15-7 with the losses.
In the opener, the Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first as Brianne Weeks singled and Jen Kosinski followed with a double. Emma Minx then singled home Weeks before Haley Buchanan drove in Kosinski with a single. Amy Hallett followed with a double which plated Minx.
The Titans countered with two in the second as Allie Riordan singled and Kris Lee followed with a two-run homer. Illinois Wesleyan tied the score at 3-3 in the third as Riordan plated Emma Clark with a base hit.
Minx drove in Weeks and Kosinski in the fourth with a double to right center as DePauw took a 5-3 advantage. Lee's solo homer in the sixth closed the DePauw lead to 5-4.
The Tigers scored a pair in the seventh as Ashlee Anton entered as a pinch-hitter and scored Hallett with a single, while Rachel MacBeth followed with a single plating Jamie Story.
Sara Daley's two-run homer in the seventh trimmed DePauw's lead to 7-6, but the Tigers held on for the win.
DePauw totaled 14 hits paced by MacBeth's three and two each from Minx, Buchanan and Hallett. The Titans finished with nine hits led by Lee and Riordan with three each.
Emiily Bichler improved to 17-7 with the win, while Katie Bruins dropped to 4-1.
In the second game, Hallett gave DePauw a 1-0 lead with a solo homer in the fourth. That lead reached 4-0 in the fifth as Allen scored when Kosinski reached on an error before Minx hit a two-run homer.
Illinois Wesleyan scored three in the fifth after Daley's sacrifice fly scored Victoria Whitaker and Clark drove in two with a single.
Minx and Hallett each had two of DePauw's nine hits, while Clark had two of the Titans' five hits.
Megan Landahl improved to 2-0, while Bichler recorded her first save. Whitaker dropped to 4-3.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday, April 16, when it hosts Centre.
