Tigers Earn NCAA Spot with NCAC Tournament Title Win

103037November 5, 2011, Delaware, Ohio — DePauw scored three first-half goals and Nathan Sprenkel recorded 10 saves as the 14th-ranked Tigers knocked off fourth-ranked Ohio Wesleyan by a 4-2 score in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament championship game.

With the win, DePauw snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Battling Bishops and earned the program's first trip to the NCAA Division III Championship since 2000. The NCAA Selection Show begins at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 7 at NCAA.com. The Tigers improved to 16-2-1 on the season and the win broke the previous school record for victories in a season. Ohio Wesleyan dropped to 18-2 with the loss.

Kreigh Kamman wasted little time in putting DePauw on the board as his goal at 4:57 gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead. George Elliott delivered an unassisted score at 35:33 before Sam Meyer made it 3-0  with just 36 second left in the half on Elliott's assist.

The Bishops reached the scoreboard just 13:19 into the second half as Jacob Eganhouse knocked in a penalty kick, but Meyer made it 4-1 at 76:51 with his second goal of the contest. Travis Wall scored Ohio Wesleyan's final goal of the game with just 27 seconds remaining.

Ohio Wesleyan held a 36-16 advantage in shots, but only a 12-8 margin in shots on goal. The Battling Bishops also led in corners, 9-1.

Sprenkel totaled five saves in each half, while Paul Hendricks finished with four for Ohio Wesleyan.
