November 10, 2011

44429November 10, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Saturday marks the 118th football meeting between DePauw University and Wabash College, but it'll also be the date of the first "Monon Chili Bowl". Organized by Tavia Pigg, assistant director of DePauw's Science Research Fellows program, the event will raise funds for the A-Way Home Shelter, which closed in September when its funding dried up.

"A few of us were discussing how we could help reopen the shelter, and we decided this would be fun for residents of Greencastle, DePauw and Wabash alumni alike," Pigg is quoted in today's Banner-Graphic.

The newspaper notes, "Different types of chili will be provided Saturday, beginning at 10:30 a.m. A ticket costs $5 at the event, and gives the bearer 10 tastings of chili. The 103059winner will be declared based on the contributions people make to each chili cook."

The chili will be served across the street from Longden Hall, at 816 S. College Avenue.
