October 31, 2012

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw senior Margaret Ellis (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield) has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for the second time this season after her performance against Kenyon in the Tigers’ final regular season conference game of 2012.

Ellis helped the Tigers to a 4-1 victory over the Ladies with three goals, while also breaking the DePauw career goals record. It also marked her fifth hat trick this season and 10th in her DePauw career.

In her final season with the Tigers, Ellis has helped the team to a 17-1 record, 16 straight wins and an undefeated campaign in NCAC play. The Tigers clinched the NCAC regular season title with a 14-0 conference record.

Ellis now holds the school record for points in a career (166) and goals in a career (73) that was previously set over 25 years ago by Colleen Konicek. The three goals also moved Ellis into second for goals in a season (25).

DePauw returns to action on Thursday, November 1, as it opens NCAC Tournament semifinal play at home against Ohio Wesleyan. Play will begin at 3 p.m. at Blackstock West Field.
