Three Tigers Qualify for NCAA Consolation Finals

Shenandoah, Texas - Three DePauw student-athletes earned spots in tonight's consolation finals after their performances in this morning's prelims.

Casey Hooker's 11th-place showing in the 500-yard freestyle topped the Tigers' finishes as he touched in 4:30.71, while Alex Grissom shaved nearly four seconds off his qualifying time with a 15th-place showing in 4:31.39.

Alex Alfonso came in just over one second faster than his meet qualifying time and placed 16th in a school-record 1:50.94 in the 200 individual medley to earn a spot in this evening's competition.

Blake Lehmann improved upon his time in the 50 free and placed 27th in 20.80 to round out the morning's individual swims.

The Tigers' 200 medley relay of Lehmann, Matt Kukurugya, Alfonso and Jack Burgeson entered with the third-fastest time, but were disqualified to an exchange violation.

Tonight's finals start at 6 p.m. CDT.
