Kelly Writers Series Presents Playwright & Distinguished University Prof. Heather McDonald on Sept. 8

Heather McDonald, a Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright who is coming to DePauw University as 2015-16 Mary Rogers Field and Marion Field-McKenna Distinguished University Professor of Creative Writing, will present a craft talk on Tuesday, September 8.  The program, presented by DePauw's James and Marilou Kelly Writers Series, will  begin at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Richard E. Peeler Art Center.

McDonald has produced eight plays -- including An Almost Holy Picture, which was produced on Broadway -- two screenplays, and a libretto. Her work has been honored with a Pulitzer Prize nomination and three NEA Playwriting Fellowships. She is a professor of theater and head of playwriting and dramaturgy concentration at George Mason University's School of Theater.

An endowment gift by J. David Field, professor emeritus of English at DePauw University, created the professorship in 2007. Appointments to this chair bring nationally recognized and practicing writers to DePauw as visiting and/or permanent members of the faculty.
