John Cassady '91 Named VP at National Rural Electric Cooperation Association

John M. Cassady, a 1991 graduate of DePauw University, has been appointed vice president of legislative affairs within the government relations department of the National Rural Electric Cooperation Association. "John brings a depth of professional experience and respected leadership to our NRECA team," says interim CEO Jeffrey Connor. "He knows the energy industry, Capitol Hill and America's electric cooperatives inside and out, and he is a key advocate for energy consumers in the 47 states our members serve. John's promotion reflects his personal approach to our mission as a membership organization and the trust he has earned from our members over the years."
Before joining NRECA in June 2010, Cassady was the director of government affairs for Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives, Inc. He's also served as a legislative assistant to Rep. Deborah Pryce (R-Ohio), as legislative liaison for the Office of Ohio Consumers' Counsel, and on caucus staff for the Republican Caucus of the Ohio House of Representatives.
A communication major and history minor at DePauw, John Cassady holds a master's in telecommunications from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and a law degree from Capital University Law School.
He and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in Burke, Va., with their three children, Jay, Natalie and Lindsey.
