Inside Indiana Business Notes DePauw Visit by Todd Rundgren, Artist-in-Residence at Notre Dame This Fall

60 Rundgren DePauw rfSinger, songwriter, producer and technology pioneer Todd Rundgren "will serve as an artist-in-residence at the University of Notre Dame's Department of Film, Television and Theatre from September 22 to October 1," reports Inside Indiana Business.

The article notes, "Rundgren is no stranger to Hoosier universities. In 2010, he served as an instructor in Indiana University's Wells Scholars Program. In 2009, Rundgren appeared as one of the speakers at DePauw's Ubben Lecture Series. DePauw says it was Rundgren's first lecture in the Midwest." It adds, "Notre Dame says Rundgren will teach several classes at the university 65 Rundgren DePauw RFand work with students and teachers in the community. Additionally, the university says he will organize an on-campus collection of used musical instruments which will be redistributed to music students in need throughout the country. "

The Ubben Lecture Series has brought more than 100 eminent visitors to DePauw since 1986 -- including Bill Clinton, Margaret Thatcher, Jimmy Kimmel, Jane Goodall, Elie Wiesel, Tony Blair, Benazir Bhutto, Jesse Jackson, Mikhail Gorbachev and Spike Lee.  The programs are always free and open to the public and are supported by an endowment created by 1958 graduates Tim and Sharon (Williams) Ubben.

Civil rights legend and presidential adviser Vernon E. Jordan Jr. '57 will speak as part of the inauguration ceremony for DePauw's twentieth president, D. Mark McCoy, on October 29.
