DePauw's Student Farm Engages in Discussion on Agriculture's Challenges & Future

"Beginning farmers from across Indiana gathered Aug. 28 to talk about their hopes, dreams and needs from the upcoming Farm Bill," begins a story in the Herald-Tribune of Batesville, Indiana. "The roundtable included a panel of farmers in their first 10 years of operation as well as Kent Yeager, Sen. Joe Donnelly's agricultural liaison."
The article notes, "The gathering included farmers who oversee goat dairy, livestock, organic vegetable and row crop operations, and a group from the student farm at DePauw University ... The average Indiana farmer is 54 years old, so this discussion of how to encourage and equip young farmers for success through national policy is critical."
