Crystal Ann Williams, a poet who served as DePauw University's Mary R. Field Distinguished Visiting Professor of Creative Writing in 2010, has been appointed to the new position of associate provost for diversity and inclusion at Boston University.
Williams comes from Bates College, where she has served as associate vice president for strategic initiatives and professor of English, as well as senior advisor to the president, since 2013. Prior to that she was on the faculty at Reed College for 13 years.
"Crystal brings considerable experience and an accomplished record of leadership in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion," says Jean Morrison, University provost. "At both Bates and Reed, she demonstrated her ability to work collaboratively and effectively to establish and develop significant offices that promote, support, and advance an institutional culture of inclusion."
