The moment a college graduate walks across a stage to accept their bachelor's degree is one that will always be remembered by the student and their families.  Again this year, memories of commencement day will be preserved for DePauw University graduates on a limited edition, professionally replicated DVD, which will include the May 20 commencement ceremony and an array of extra features that spotlight the past four years.

The disc, which will include footage of each graduate receiving their DePauw diploma, is now available for pre-order. The DVDs are $19.95 for the first disc; additional DVDs sent to the same address will be $7 each (shipping to domestic addresses is included; 7% sales tax will be added to Indiana orders).

An online order form is available here.

The ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 20, at 10:30 a.m. in Holton Memorial Quadrangle.  Civil rights legend and attorney Vernon E. Jordan Jr., a 1957 graduate of DePauw, will deliver the primary address to his alma mater's Class of 2018.

The DVD will contain multi-camera coverage of the ceremony, including the procession of graduating seniors, speeches and -- as noted -- video of each graduate receiving his or her diploma. Those looking for a particular part of the program can immediately access what they seek via the DVD's menu. For example, to see a graduate whose last name is Rogers, you click on the letter 'R' in the menu and are immediately taken to the first person whose last name begins with the letter 'R' receiving his or her diploma. Users can also jump to specific speeches, or watch the program from beginning to end. (at left: front cover of 2017 commencement DVD)

The DVDs are professionally replicated, not duplicated, and are housed in a decorative jacket.  They will ship a few weeks after the ceremony.

Like a video yearbook, the disc's bonus selections will highlight some of the memorable experiences the graduates have had over the past four years at DePauw. There will be campus highlights from 2014-2018 (ranging from clips of the opening convocation at which the Class of 2018 was welcomed to DePauw and clips of Ubben Lecturers such as Jimmy Kimmel, David Hanson and Sophia, Malala Yousafzai, Andrew Luck, David Cameron, Piper Kerman, Bill Rasmussen '54 and Leslie Odom Jr.); a photo gallery of commencement day activities; and vintage film from the DePauw Archives.

This will mark the 17th commencement DVD that DePauw has produced, and the 43rd DVD overall.  Past projects include 22 Monon Bell Classics (1977, 1984, 1993, 1994 and 2000-17), some of which remain available here.

DePauw has produced a commencement DVD each year since 2002. Discs of past commencement ceremonies are available via this link.
