Andrew Casey '17 to Conduct Chamber Orchestra in Minnesota

Andrew Casey, a 2017 graduate of DePauw University, "will be making his debut performance conducting the Linden Hills Chamber Orchestra at the Lake Harriet Bandshell" on May 31, reports Minnesota's Orono Pioneer. "Featured on the program will be works by John Williams, Johannes Brahms, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Jean Sibelius. In addition, the concert will premiere the young maestro’s own original arrangements of jazz standards from the Great American Songbook."

The article notes that Casey studied horn and jazz piano at the DePauw School of Music. "Since his graduation, he has remained active with local Minneapolis orchestras, including the Kenwood Symphony Orchestra, the Minnetonka Symphony Orchestra, the MacPhail Chamber Orchestra, and the Minnetonka Civic Orchestra."

Musical notesCurrently studying conducting with Mischa Santora, former associate conductor of the Minnesota Orchestra, Casey will begin studies this spring at the Royal Northern College of Music in the United Kingdom.
